Back in Newcastle

By Saffron

After a long five hour drive, I sigh with relief as I finally see the Angel of the North, I know I’m back in Newcastle.

I’m looking forward to stretching my legs and getting back to my university lifestyle. Although the Angel brought me excitement of coming back to independence it also means it’s time to say goodbye.

I turned to look at my mum and dad’s faces and I know when they see the Angel, they don’t share the same excitement as me.

It won’t be long before I see them again, they tell me as I give them a hug goodbye and knowing that when I see the Angel again it will mean I’m coming home.

My brother likes to take pictures of the angel when my dad drives by, through the car window on their way to come and pick me up.

Hopefully one day we will be able to get a picture with the angel as my mum always says we need to do every time we pass her, to symbolise my time at Uni.

We can finally see what she’s like up close rather than through a car window.
